Sorry to interrupt, but can you advise on whether nz police recruitment from uk extends to civilian occupations within the force.   Husband is database admin for elearning for police and we are near end of application for visas procedure.   ghdWould like to ensure employment and if transfer were possibile would be preferable to up sticks with no employment in place.   Any info would be gratefully received ghd straighteners

As you know I am in contact with several expat officers now working in NZ. I understand that there will be some recruitment ' in the UK' early next year. yes, same here. I came to NZ in July 2005, was employed for a couple of years and started my own business in November 2008. You just register for GST and can start - piece of cake.

What helped me promoting my business was http://www.tradesmendirect.co.nz. You can advertise your business and services on that website. For a low membership fee you get lots of benefits from their partners in return, as there are Vodafone, ASB Bank, R&R Sports, Bartercard, MyTax.co.nz, Thrifty Car rentals, Accountants, website designers, lawyers etc. Plus they are helping with immigration.  highly recommended!

Wow - that's a lot of pets to ship over! We just have 1 cat and have been looking into renting too. I have also heard that it is hard to find rental accommodation that allows pets. However, there is some out there and if you register with some of the big agencies Ilike Barfoots or LJ Hooker) they will let you know of suitable places. Also you could check out classifieds in the local papers of the region you are moving to.

We are originally from Bolton/Manchester.  We chose Wellington as its like a small version of London - its got fantastic shopping, every major shop and department store you could want plus lots of niche shopping.  Theres loads of restaurants, theatres, cinemas and lots going on every weekend.  I work part time at the Ministry of Education near Parliament, in the Thorndon end of town.  Wellington is absolutely buzzing, it has a very positive, up-beat feel about it and is welcoming of newcomers.  Entrepreneurs and new businesses are welcomed and there is lots of help, advice and assistance available from Grow-Wellington and Wellington Council Settlement Support amongst others.
